Days 5 Spice Island, Zanzibar Serena Hotel

After breakfast, you will take a tour of Zanzibar Spice Island. Known as the Spice Island, the beautiful island of Zanzibar on Africa's east coast is bursting with culture and history, seemingly at odds with its idyllic geography of white-sand beaches with palms swaying lazily in the sea breeze. Together this makes Zanzibar a fabulous place to explore as well as a dream to relax and unwind.

Located just 40 kilometres off the coast of Tanzania and just six degrees south of the equator, Zanzibar Island is referred to locally as 'Unguja' and is known internationally as the 'Spice Island'. An important trading centre of the Indian Ocean region in the nineteenth century the island became famous for spices and fresh produce, and supposedly boasts the sweetest pineapple in the world. The island is characterized by the magic of historic Stone Town and beautiful sandy beaches fringed with coral reefs.

Full day spent at leisure at the Zanzibar Serena Hotel. Zanzibar Serena Inn is a large luxury hotel whose charm comes as much from the service as it does the fact that it occupies a prime spot along the town’s beach front. Featured Accommodation

Zanzibar Palace Hotel

Zanzibar
Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a nine room boutique hotel in which Zanzibar's rich history is integrated with Arabian, Indian and English designs in combination with all modern comforts. Each room has its own unique decor with many locally originating antique pieces of furniture, magical beds, Persian rugs, colourful silks, etc. The hotel has quickly become one of our favourites if you wish to stay in the centre of Stone Town.

There is a lovely homely feel to this place as it is run by the owners, a Dutch couple, Co and Frans. The establishment has all the mod cons you hope for while still ensuring it retains all the charm of a traditional Stone Town accommodation. It has a restaurant with excellent food and a lovely subtle Spa which is a great way to relax after a day of touring this ancient city.
